Boko Haram Kills Over 60 People In Damaturu, Yobe State

A series of bomb and gun attacks in the north-eastern Nigerian town of Damaturu has killed at least 63 people, the Red Cross says.

Witnesses said the bombs hit several targets, including churches and the headquarters of the Yobe state police. Many people are reported to have fled the town after a night of violence.

It follows attacks on security forces in the nearby city of Maiduguri blamed on the Islamist Boko Haram group. Nigerian Red Cross official Ibrahim Bulama, in Damaturu, told the BBC at least 63 people had been killed there.

He said two other people had been killed in attacks elsewhere. News agencies said the nearby town of Potiskum had also been attacked.

The BBC's Jonah Fisher, in Nigeria's commercial capital, Lagos, says people visiting morgues have reported seeing 92 bodies.
An unnamed local government official in Damaturu was quoted by AFP news agency as saying that hundreds of wounded people were being treated in hospital.

'Church torched'
Witnesses said the attacks began on Friday at about 18:30 (17:30 GMT) and lasted for about 90 minutes.
Gunmen then engaged in running battles with security forces.
A Roman Catholic parish priest told our correspondent his church had been burnt down and eight other churches also attacked.

He described gangs of young men roaming the streets throwing improvised bombs into the churches.
The attacks followed a triple suicide bomb attack on a military headquarters in Maiduguri, in neighbouring Borno state.

Military officials said the three attackers had died.
That attack is believed to be the work of Boko Haram, which has launched frequent attacks on the police and government officials.
The name means "Western education is forbi
dden".

Nigerian Nurse's Licence Withdrawn In UK For Calling on Jesus For Help

A 51 year old Nigerian-born UK resident nurse, Omolayo Abayomi, has had her Nurse's licence withdrawn by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council for throwing her hands into the air and begging for Jesus to help, as a baby she was supposed to be taking care of suffered a heart attack.
According to Daily Mail UK, Omolayo Abayomi 'panicked' when the child, who suffered from a chronic lung disease, turned blue and stopped breathing in his cot at home. The nurse called for divine intervention more than 20 times before the vulnerable boy's mother told her to 'shut up'.
The nurse was constantly saying "Jesus help him" and waving her arms around,' a hearing was told.
What is wrong with these oyibo people...don't they know in Nigeria, we can't do anything without calling the name of Jesus?...:-). Continue reading...

The nurse 'provided wholly inadequate care' by leaving the frantic mother to resuscitate her lifeless son, while the father dialled 999.
Abayomi was found guilty of a string of charges by the Nursing and Midwifery Council at a hearing in central London.
Sydney Topping, for Abayomi, insisted his client's behaviour had represented no more than a 'bad day at the office' and urged the panel to let her off with a caution.
'Once in a while you have a bad day at the office,' he said.

'I would suggest that on April 8 the registrant had a bad day at the office. It was no worse than that. She has bounced back since then.'

The hearing heard that the child, referred to a Patient A, and his twin sister were born three months premature at Homerton University Hospital in Hackney, east London, and as a result suffered from a number of serious illnesses and so required round-the-clock care.

Joanna Dirmikis, for the NMC, said Abayomi had been employed by private nursing firm Paediatric Nursing Link to look after the infant, who required 22 hours of nursing care every day.
The parents were woken by a knock on their bedroom door at 5am on April 8, 2007, to find their son lying lifeless after suffering respiratory cardiac arrest, the panel was told.

'While Mrs A was trying to resuscitate the child, Mr A called 999,' said Miss Dirmikis.
'The twin sister of the little boy was also present during the incident and can be heard crying in the background during the call.'

'She panicked and at one stage even summoned divine intervention, calling for Jesus,' she added.
Paramedics rushed the boy to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone, east London, before he was taken to Great Ormond Street Hospital on the same day for further treatment.
Giving evidence, a tearful Mrs A said Abayomi had effectively 'abandoned' her during the incident.

'The nurse was constantly saying "Jesus help him" and waving her arms around,' she said.
'She said it more than 20 times. I felt I had to do everything - at that point she was doing nothing to help my son.
'She never offered to take the lead at any point and at no point did she suggest calling 999.
'I can't change what's happened to my son, I know I did the best for him but the nurse just completely abandoned her duty.

'If I can save just one other person from having to go through what we have been through, then that's what I want to do.'

The panel heard Patient A, now aged five, made a full recovery from the incident but is still totally dependent on others for his care.

Abaymo claimed the mother had pushed her away and refused to let her help.
She denied calling out for Jesus, panicking and failing to provide care or basic life support.
The nurse further denied failing to properly handover the case to paramedics and making inaccurate and false notes about the incident.

She was cleared of specific charges that she suctioned the child's tracheostomy tube or that she failed to record observations taken but was found guilty of misconduct and ruled unfit to continue working without restrictions.

Striking Abayomi off, panel chair John Williams said: 'This was a failure to accept responsibility for her role in the events by the registrant.
'She has shown a lack of empathy with the parents of the child and there has been no admission or apology, and therefore no insight.
'This failure is incompatible with her continuing to be a registered nurse.'

House of Rep. Member, Arrested in Abuja by VP Sambo's Security Aides

Tinubu's inlaw and House of Rep. Member, Oyetunde Ojo was yesterday evening arrested in Abuja by vice president Sambo's security aides for obstructing the VP's convoy. Mr Ojo was coming from his Nancy suites when he ran into the VP's convoy. He was detained at the VP's lounge in Aso Villa, yesterday but has since been released.

I guess knowingly or unknowingly obstructing a VP convoy is a security breach.

D'BANJ TO BE HONOURED AT CHANNEL O MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS 2011.

D'BANJ TO BE HONOURED AT CHANNEL O MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS 2011. African pop star Dapo Oyebanjo, better known as D’banj is to be honoured at the forthcoming 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards, organizers have announced. The Entertainer will be given a Special Recognition award on Friday, November 11, 2011, during the awards ceremony.
With the recent news, D’banj follows in the footsteps of past winners ...K’Naan, Brenda Fassie and George Lee in 2010, 2009 and 2008 respectively.
D’banj, who co-hosted the awards show alongside DJ Sbu back in 2007, has shown impressive qualities as an African artiste in his six-year musical journey. He has released three solo albums ‘No long thing’ (2005), ‘Rundown Funk U Up’ (2006), ‘The Entertainer’ (2008) and the anticipation for his fourth – ‘Mr Endowed’ increases by the day.
His hard work led to the recent international record deal signing with US rapper Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music earlier this year.
It’s really an honour for us to be celebrating an artist such as D’Banj for this year’s Special Recognition Award. Besides the obvious success that D’Banj has had, one of the stand-out factors is that his career, his success and his path run parallel with the growth that we have seen in the African music industry since the inception of the Channel O Music Video Awards. To us he represents a breed of African urban artists who are the African dream’, says Leslie ‘Lee’ Kasumba, Channel O Africa Manager.
As announced earlier, the awards show will be hosted by Nigerian R&B singer Banky W and South African O-Access presenter Dineo Moeketsi and broadcast live on Channel O from the Sandton Convention Centre.Source(THENETNG)

Justin Bieber is a baby daddy?

The 17year old singer is at the centre of a paternity lawsuit which was filed by a 20 year old California resident, Mariah Yeater, claiming that she and the pop star had sex backstage after his concert in 2010, and that he is the now the father of her 3-month-old baby boy

Mariah claims she was approached last year by a security guard while seated in the front row of the star's concert and asked if she wanted to meet the singer backstage.

She said: 'Immediately, it was obvious that we were mutually attracted to one another, and we began to kiss. 'Shortly thereafter, Justin Bieber suggested that I go with him to a private place where we could be alone.'I agreed to go with him and on the walk to a private area, he told me he wanted to make love to me and this was going to be his first time.
'We went inside and immediately his personality changed drastically. He began touching me and repeatedly said he wanted to f*** the s*** out of me.

At the time I asked him to put a condom on for protection, but he insisted that he did not want to.'
'In his own words, he said that because it was his first time he wanted to feel everything.'
She is said to have described the intercourse as 'brief', lasting 'approximately 30 seconds'.
According to Radar Online, Yeater told a judge: 'When I later realized I was pregnant with Justin Bieber's baby, I tried to contact him through his representatives but no one ever called me back.'
She added: 'On July 6, 2011, I gave birth to a baby boy. That was exactly 36 weeks and two days after the sexual encounter with Justin Bieber.

Bieber's spokesperson has vehemently denied the allegations, and told Radar'While we haven't yet seen the lawsuit, it's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims.

After spending 24 days in detention made by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDELA), popular comedic actor Babatunde Omidina better known to the public as Baba Suwe has been released. He walked out of the court a free man this morning Friday, November 4, 2011 after an Ikeja High Court ordered his release.
Presiding judge, Justice Yetunde Idowu grante...

Kim Kardashian Speaks Out On Her Failed Marriage

Just a day after filing for divorce from Kris Humphries, her husband of 72 days, Kim Kardashian is making sure she tells her side of the story.
This is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. I see all of the support and I am so thankful for my fans, friends and family who are helping me through this difficult time.
I am trying not to read all the different media reports but it’s hard not to see all the negative ones. First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!
I don't believe you Ms Kardashian. Especially since your husband had to read from a gossip site (TMZ) that he's getting divorced. You couldn't first talk to him about it? Fishing for ratings...

Continue to read the rest of it...

I share so much of my life on a reality show, that contemplating whether to even film my wedding was a tough decision to make, and maybe it turned out to not be the smartest decision. But it’s who I am! We filmed Kourtney giving birth, Khloe getting married, break ups, make ups, our best moments and our worst moments. These were all real moments. That’s what makes us who we are. We share, we give, we love and we are open!

Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all of my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon. I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have. I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people.

I’m being honest here and I hope you respect my courage because this isn’t easy to go through. But I do know that I have to follow my heart. I never had the intention of hurting anybody and I accept full responsibility for my actions and decisions, and for taking everyone on this journey with me. It just didn’t turn out to be the fairy tale I had so badly hoped for.

There are also reports that I made millions of dollars off of the wedding. These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this. I’m so grateful to everyone who took the time to come to my wedding and I’ll be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation.

I’m sorry if I have hurt anyone, but my dad always told me to follow my heart and I believe now that I really am.
